We're so excited to launch this NEW program in early 2025! We always wanted to support kids, so we designed a program with the unique needs of kids ages 6-8 in mind.
In this one hour workshop, kids will play, use their imagination, stretch their bodies, practice patience, be silly, and learn mindfulness.
Holly Landau leads the class. She is certified in Children's Meditation and Mindfulness.
Kids are welcomed to the workshop and we let them know what to expect during the hour. Then we jump right in with our first activity. To loosen up the body and calm the ‘monkey mind,’ kids shake their arms, legs, hands, etc. before the first meditation.
Kids lie on their yoga mats/towels as we progressively relax body parts by “scrunching” and releasing them (eyes, nose, lips, arms, shoulders, arms, hands, legs, toes). Soothing music is played in the background. Their bodies and minds begin to relax.
A walk-through obstacle course that teaches kids patience. Patience is the ability to wait for something without getting upset and maintaining a positive attitude. Kids who are patient remain calm and confident.
Kids assemble and decorate a Calm Down Kit. Kits include a squishy ball, a calm message bracelet, crayons, two handouts, a mood chart, and a bag.
On their mats/blankets, kids do simple and fun poses like cobra, downward dog, and unicorn.
On their mats/blankets, through a guided meditation and soothing background music, kids close their eyes and imagine the colors of a rainbow.
